Mortars for flooring
Mortars for flooring
Modern floors typically consist of several layers of flooring materials, each with their own specific role to play. Right now, you might be standing or sitting on a linoleum or parquet floor that sits on top of tile grout, adhesive, self-leveling underlayment, screed, insulation, infloor heating and a concrete slab.
Our minerals make ideal multifunctional fillers in flooring mortars to improve mechanical properties, such as leveling for screeds and SLUs, and finished surface appearance for decorative floors. On top of this, modern mortars also incorporate thermal and acoustic insulation, underfloor heating and electrical services when required. When it comes to job-sites or commercial floors, chosen flooring systems also need to withstand the day-to-day constraints such as heavy wheeled traffic and chemical attacks in order to fulfill their purpose.
Our platy talcs are excellent solutions for improving mechanical properties and cracking in self-leveling floor mortars. Muscovite micas are good solutions for improving mixing and trowelling properties in mortars and to improve the flexibility of the finished product. Our reactive metakaolin pozzolans are ideal for achieving hydraulic sets in traditional lime putty mortars and plasters and for improving the mechanical strength of floor mortars. Ground carbonate provides particle packing to improve workability and improve water retention.
Our TERNAL® range of Calcium Aluminates Technologies, supplemented by our Peramin® range of functional additives, is easy and safe to apply and ensures high productivity and reliable performance. Aluminate technology enhances the most demanding properties of coatings, screeds, industrial floors and decorative floors. They have been especially developed to meet the exacting needs of building chemistry formulators in terms of consistency, color and reactivity, in turn allowing for earlier reopening to traffic, shorter turnaround time for works, improved productivity of the construction process, flexible color choices and improved aesthetics.
