Timrex® MX
Improved graphite material for high EMD to graphite ratio alkaline battery cathodes
Timrex MX synthetic graphite powder is an improved graphite material designed to be used as a conductive additive in alkaline battery cathodes with a high EMD to graphite ratio. It has been developed by our researchers to bring together the best electromechanical properties and excellent processability. It is recommended for high drain AA and AAA batteries.
Timrex MX meets the need of battery manufacturers that are increasing the EMD to graphite ratio in the cathode as they are faced with an increasing demand for new high energy and power density alkaline batteries with a high current drain regime.
Timrex MX is part of our improved grades of high crystalline flake graphites with an extreme anisotropic character. Their particle shape provides the ideal electrical conducting matrix in the cathode ring. They show their advantage in electrochemical performance compared to other graphite grades particularly at low graphite contents in the cathode in the high current drain regime. The texture morphology and high crystalline flake-type character and shape of these grades provide an optimized compressibility and excellent lubricating properties that result in excellent processability and workability.
