Natural volcanic rock-derived ImerCare® SunTouch enhances sunscreen absorption
ImerCare® SunTouch is obtained from natural volcanic rock which contains 2-6% water in its inner structure. When heated to around 900°C, the water trapped within the perlite structure vaporizes, causing the material to expand to form a spherical structure. We mill this expanded perlite to obtain a transparent mineral which demonstrates high absorption properties.
ImerCare® SunTouch is derived from a 100% natural mineral source and is not treated with chemicals during processing. As such, it is Cosmos approved. It is an ideal natural sensory enhancer for the replacement of more controversial synthetic ingredients used as texture and sensory enhancers in SPF Cosmetics, such as silica or nylon.

ImerCare® SunTouch enhances sunscreen absorption, improving penetration into the skin, which is crucial for SPF cosmetics to remain effective. This high absorption confers a non-sticky, non-greasy, powdery touch and matte effect to the skin, without influencing product texture and odor.
ImerCare® SunTouch: A natural alternative to silica in sunscreen products
In an independent panel test comparing the performance of an oily gel containing ImerCare® SunTouch versus a reference (with no sensory agent) and silica, ImerCare® SunTouch demonstrated similar or superior performance to silica:
Maintaining SPF effectiveness with natural minerals
ImerCare® SunTouch has no impact whatsoever on the SPF performance of the cosmetics, as demonstrated in in vivo tests on 5 volunteers (according to ISO 24444:2019).
ImerCare® SunTouch perlite is compatible with most SPF formulations, containing both chemical and mineral UV filters, in stick-form, emulsions (W/O or O/W), oils and gels.
We recommend using ImerCare® SunTouch at 3-7% loadings.
