Suncare
Meeting consumer trends for lightweight, non-greasy, natural sunscreen solutions
As awareness of the sun's harmful effects continues to rise, more people are incorporating sun care products into their daily beauty routines. For these products to be suitable for everyday use, however, they need to combine effective sun protection with a lightweight, non-greasy texture that feels comfortable on the skin all day long. In parallel, consumers are seeking products made with more natural ingredients, which reflect their values in terms of health and sustainability. Imerys’ perlite-based sensory agent, ImerCare® Sun Touch, delivers on both fronts, offering a solution that aligns with these evolving expectations.
A natural alternative to silica in sunscreen products
ImerCare® Sun Touch is derived from natural volcanic rock sourced from our wholly owned operation in Turkey. We expand this rock to form a lightweight mineral with a spherical structure, which is then carefully milled to produce a natural perlite with superior absorption properties, specifically designed for sunscreens.
Due to its unique light and porous structure, ImerCare® Sun Touch, demonstrates optimized absorption and mattifying properties, making it an ideal natural sensory enhancer for use in SPF cosmetic products like emulsions, sticks and oils.
ImerCare® SunTouch has been specifically designed to replace synthetic sensory modifiers like silica and nylon, commonly used in sunscreen formulations to improve texture and skin feel.
It is a natural perlite solution that helps meet consumer demand for sunscreens made with more natural ingredients while delivering a soft, light texture and matte effect, whilst maintaining effective sun protection.
All Imerys cosmetics products are natural, high quality, chemically inert and offer good skin tolerance. These attributes enable them to be used in cosmetic products that comply with cosmetic directive regulation (EC) n° 1223/2009.
ImerCare® SunTouch is Cosmos certified – certificates of origin and additional documentation are available upon request.
