Dispersion

High surface area minerals like precipitated calcium carbonate can disperse badly in adhesives, causing surface defects. That’s why we engineer ours for optimum dispersion.

Optimized for the highest quality

Dispersion of minerals in adhesive and sealant formulations is critical for numerous reasons, such as rate of production, optimal rheology, mechanical properties and aesthetics.

Poor dispersion can be easily visible in the final application potentially causing surface defects and loss of mechanical properties. Minerals must therefore be carefully selected for their dispersibility in a formulation.

We engineer and optimize the particle size, shape and surface properties of our minerals so they offer the highest degree of dispersion in both aqueous and solvent mediums.

It’s good to know that with Imerys minerals you won’t face dispersion issues in your sealants and adhesives, even if you’re using high surface area minerals, such as precipitated calcium carbonate, and creating high viscosity final products.
