CVD coatings for batteries and fuel cells on carbon and non-carbon substrates

We offer chemical vapor deposition (CVD) coating for a range of applications (such as for li-ion battery, or fuel cell components) to a variety of carbon and non-carbon based substrates.

Chemical vapor deposition is an advantageous process involving the reaction of a volatile precursor injected into a chamber under vacuum. When heated to a reaction temperature, this causes the precursor gas to react or break down into the desired coating and bond to the material surface. Over time, the coating material builds up evenly on the entire surface of the exposed component.

This technique provides improved performance for various applications such as better thickness control of the carbon layer compared to other deposition technologies such as pitch coating. These improved particle surface properties result in smoother surfaces, greater electrical and thermal conductivity, better mixing compatibility with other materials, and last but certainly not least, in a reduced CO2 footprint compared to other technologies (e.g pitch coating).
