Polarite™ for rubber

Our Polarite range is ideal for electrical insulation properties and improved processing in a variety of rubber applications.
Polarite for rubber

Boost the properties of your cables and extruded products

The Polarite range is a line of silane-treated calcined clays. Polarite grades are particularly suited for boosting the properties of the medium- to high-voltage cables and extruded products.

Wire and cable

Used in the production of medium- to high-voltage cables made from ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), our Polarite range provides excellent insulation and dielectric properties, a very smooth surface finish and excellent dimensional control due to low die swell.

Insulating properties are maintained both at high working temperatures and under wet conditions for the working life of the cable, making Imerys’ Polarite range a suitable additive for high temperature and submerged cable sheathing.

It also provides superior insulating properties in other cable sheathing polymers such as crosslinked polyethylene and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers.

Polychloroprene

Our aminosilane treated Polarite kaolins are particularly suited for use in polychloroprene, hypalon and halobutyls, where they significantly improve tensile strength, modulus, tear strength and compression set.

Our Polarite range is recommended for:

Key benefits

Excellent dielectric performance
High stability
Improved dispersibility
Excellent dimensional control
Low die swell
