Hydrite® SB60
Functional extender that improves processability and properties
Our Hydrite SB60 range has a unique, hyper-platy morphology and is chemically inert. It improves processability, reinforcement and mechanical properties such as tensile strength (modulus), abrasion and tear strength, but also imparts better electrical properties.
Kaolin can be a cost-effective replacement or extender for more expensive or difficult to process synthetic reinforcing additives (i.e. precipitated silica, fumed silica, carbon black). Kaolin, in general, provides barrier properties that are beneficial when formulating compounds for hoses and gaskets, while hyper-platy kaolins enhance barrier properties much more significantly, for example in the tire inner liner applications.
Used in rubber compounds, our Hydrite SB60 range improves:
- Modulus
- Tensile strength
- Tear resistance
- Abrasion resistance
- Green strength
- Processability
- Cured stiffness
- Low tan delta
- High volume resistivity
- Barrier and low permeability
- Low compression set
- Resistance to chemical attack and very low chemical reactivity
