Imerys’ coordinated action on climate issues are recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project
Imerys has received its 2019 score from the environmental impact non-profit organization, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Imerys received a B, which places the Group in the second highest band, corresponding to management of climate issues in a concrete and systematic way. This assessment score places Imerys higher than the Europe regional average and mineral mining sector, both of which have an average score of C.
Imerys has committed to reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 36% relative to revenue (tCO2/M€) by 2030 from a 2018 base year, in alignment with a 2°C trajectory. These targets were approved in July 2019 by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and mark a significant milestone in the Group’s strategy to reduce the impacts of climate change.
CDP is a global environmental impact non-profit organization, providing a platform for all companies and cities to report information on their climate impacts. CDP assesses companies on the comprehensiveness of their disclosure, their awareness and management of environmental risks and their demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets.
These CDP results are the recognition of Imerys continuous efforts in Corporate Social Responsibility. This recognition is the second one for 2019, as Imerys already received last April from EcoVadis, an internationally recognized corporate social responsibility assessor, the highest medal for the quality of its CSR management systems. Imerys has been EcoVadis-accredited since 2014, and in 2019 its rating progressed from silver to gold level. Imerys’ score of 64 puts it in the top 6% of assessed organizations.
The Group’s firm commitment to sustainable development is recognized by leading CSR rating agencies:
