- Imerys has recently joined the Sustainable European Abrasive Manufacturers (SEAM) program that helps improve the sustainability of the abrasive industry.
- SEAM was launched on January 21, 2020 by the Federation of European Producers of Abrasives (FEPA), which represents over 80% of the abrasive product producers in Europe. Today, the program gathers the most important actors in the abrasive market.
Sustainability is at the heart of the Group’s long-term strategy to support growth and meet the expectations of its stakeholders. By becoming a member of the SEAM program, Imerys takes a step further and joins forces with other abrasives companies to set European standards that will push the industry towards more sustainability efficiency.
The objective of the SEAM program is to support and assist abrasive manufacturers on their way to sustainable growth and sustainability improvements, mostly in production. This will ultimately impact the market as well since the SEAM value chain will strive to deliver high quality and sustainable solutions. To be approved into the program, Imerys had to meet a series of minimum requirements organized into the three fundamental pillars of sustainability: environment, labor and economy.
With its SEAM label, Imerys is committed to improve its sustainability performance as it will work on and annually report its progress on various evolving targets within the three pillars, such as energy efficiency and CO2 reduction, employees’ health and safety, or quality and innovative products and production processes.
With our SustainAgility™ program, we are among the leaders in sustainability in our industry and will continue to set the bar high regarding environmental and social standards to drive our long-term development.
