JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The role of the EHS manager shall be to assist the management related to EHS activities in the plant and to ensure that system’s in place with respect to Environment, health and safety. 

This role will require the person to take care of compliance relevant to Occupational health & Environmental regulations and standards. 

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

 

Provide health and safety measures in a working environment.

Support staff with the identification of environmental aspects and determining the project objectives and target. Identify and evaluate the unsafe environment and practices.

EHS Manager Responsibilities

  • Designated competent person on site for Safety, Health & Environment.

  • Assisting the HOD’s in the general duties regarding Environment,Health and Safety Policy implementation and reporting requirements under various legislation, as well as following the group's reporting standards.

  • Leading projects to improve overall Safety, Health & Environment within budget limitations

  • Ensuring all projects abides with all relevant legislation, including Factories Act, Boilers & Pressure vessels ,at, etc.

  • Responsibility for the implementation & administrative maintenance of the ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management system

  • Responsibility for the risk assessment database, or equivalent

  • Reviewing of Accident and Investigation reports upon completion and ensuring accident statistics are collected and timely reported to Paris

  • Reviewing Near Miss Events and Dangerous Occurrence Reports

  • Coordinating and leading  the monthly Safety Committee

  • Responsible for Bio-Diversity Implementation as per corporate/Business area Standards

  • Reporting on Health and Safety Matters in Monthly Industrial Report

  • Communication to all employees with regards to important legislation changes

  • Develop /maintain suitable on site communication tools (screen, safety board etc)

  • Co-ordination of Training Requirements for Safety, Health & Environment with the HR Manager

  • Input into budgetary requirements for Safety, Health & Environment

  • Maintenance of the safety score card and accident register

  • Participation in the EHS  network across group

  • Responsible for coordinating the implementation of new Group Health and Safety standards

  • Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned.

Attend meetings as required and make information available to such meetings to report on any Health and Safety related matters.

Identify and propose solutions for existing issues or deficiencies by participating and developing procedures and systems.

Succession

All work, history and current status must be well documented to enable succession during times of absence. The documents must comply with departmental and industry standards, the criteria and design of which must be proposed and compiled by the incumbent.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements

Qualification

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Science.

  • Possesses a degree or diploma in industrial safety recognised by the State/Central Government

  • NEBOSH Certification or any equivalent EHS certification(Desirable)

  • 8 – 10 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety,preferably in a Multinational / Leading Indian companies
