Job Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for the installation and rebuilding machinery and miscellaneous equipment and parts.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • The Maintenance Mechanic will perform all necessary repairs and/or modifications to plant machinery or equipment as required to maintain optimum availability.  Repairs may include rebuilding/replacement of worn parts, gearboxes, bearings; fabrication to include cutting/welding of sheet metal/pipe for prod. equip. & repairs, ductwork, structures, etc.

  • Preventive maintenance: inspection, cleaning, lubrication, replacement, and repair of worn parts

  • Perform Daily/Weekly/Monthly equipment inspections as outlined by the Maintenance Supervisor

  • Troubleshooting: assembling and disassembling; inspecting mechanical parts; removing, replacing, and repairing defective parts; calibrating; adjusting and aligning equipment

  • Support spare parts and equipment inventory management 

  • Maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility as per Imerys standards

  • Follow all Safety procedures while performing duties to include but not limited to LOTO, wearing appropriate PPE for assigned duties

Skills and Attributes Requirements

  • Must be able to effectively communicate both orally or written

  • Must be able to work shifts as per schedule 

  • Must be able to work in hot and cold weather conditions.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in high places.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted

  • Will be required to wear all necessary PPE 

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of two years experience in industrial maintenance and repairs 

  • Welding certification/experience required

  • Rigging and equipment handling experience preferred 

Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process.

  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting with exposure to all seasonal climatic conditions.

  • Occasionally lifting, carrying, and/or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
