JOB SUMMARY:
Lead the safety culture, process, systems, programs, and continuous improvement for USA and Canada Operations in Performance Minerals America (PMA)
Work cross-functionally with other business area health & safety leaders, Group health & safety leaders, legal, purchasing, and more to develop and execute strategic initiatives and protocols
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the planning, development, implementation and administration of corporate Safety, Health, and Regulatory Compliance Policy and Procedures
Represent the Company in all issues and activities related to Safety, Health and Regulatory Compliance, including liaison with regulatory agencies, legislators, industry and trade associations, etc
Ensures H&S best-in-class industrial standards are achieved in the framework of Imerys Safety System
Provide leadership, direction, and information to senior and shop floor management to facilitate proactive efforts in eliminating losses due to accidents, injuries, occupational illnesses and regulatory noncompliance.
Ensures industrial and mining operations are run with best-in-class industry practices, in line with Imerys Protocols and local regulatory requirements
Provide recommendations for control, correction, and continuous improvement based on results of incident investigations, audits and inspections.
Ensuring that employees are adequately trained and competent to perform their jobs safely
Drives the implementation of proactive practices across sites in line with industry requirements (MSHA / OSHA)
Serve as a technical resource for sites on all aspects of safety including OSHA, MSHA (and related local authorities having jurisdiction), and collaborates with Operations Directors, and Site managers to transfer best practices quickly.
Plan and direct activities of Loss Control and Industrial Hygiene personnel in the continuous evaluation of occupational exposures
Performs H&S site gap analysis with Imerys guidelines and local regulatory H & S standards
Shares good practices across our Business Area (PMA), and collaborate with Group (Paris Corporate) roundtables that include other Business Areas
Key interfaces: ensures tight coordination with Industrial VP, Hub Operations Directors, Imerys CoE, and Purchasing
Assist business unit regional manufacturing managers with incident investigation/RCA, development of corrective/preventive action plans, and to track and drive closure of associated actions to ensure repeat incidents cannot occur
Coach and train leaders in incident response, care management, care and return to work processes for team members. Ensure proper implementation of these processes.
Monitor safety metric trends to determine focus areas for improvement and performance
Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
Monitor team performance and implement improvement plans as needed
Assist with the development of capital improvement plans related to safety controls and improvement.
Provide information and guidance during budget development to ensure proper annual resourcing for safety in their businesses.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Safety related field or Engineering discipline, or safety related certifications
At least 15 Years experience in H & S system implementation
At least 5 Years experience in management
Certified Safety Professional designation, preferred
Travel up to 50%
