The Position
Technician - LabJob Summary
Nature of Position: To perform the routine and special analyses on laboratory samples.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform established tests on laboratory samples
Enter test data into the Laboratory Information Management System, Microsoft Access Process Data Entry Forms and other computer programs.
Pick up samples at designated drop points.
Maintain sample retention storage.
Handle Certificates of Analysis by fax, mail, or with a carrier.
Calibrate and standardize laboratory test equipment.
Maintain a clean, orderly work area.
Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.
Measurements Performed/Tools & Gauges:
Particle size analysis / Micromeritics 5100, Cilas Granulometer, Microtrac X100
Color Analysis / Hunter Colorimeter & Datacolor Spectrophotometer
Other equipment as required
Working Conditions: Job includes both inside and outside duties in varying weather conditions. Activities include considerable walking, climbing ladders, and standing on various floor levels.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduate with credits in chemistry and algebra. Transcript required.
Preference: College level chemistry and algebra, prior laboratory experience, computer training. Additional consideration will be given to the grades received for chemistry and algebra credits. (Transcript required).
Skills Requirement: Working knowledge of mathematics and elementary science, ability to communicate with plant personnel, ability to perform data entry and analysis using computer programs.
Experience: Two or more years in the industrial minerals industry or other continuous process industry. Specific job requirements relate to duties of other laboratory personnel using the established operating procedures and work instructions as guidelines.
