Job Summary

Imerys is seeking a skilled Reliability Engineer for our flagship manufacturing plant in Lompoc, CA. In this crucial role, you will provide expert support to our Celpure Plant, focusing on optimizing maintenance strategies and operational efficiency. As our Reliability Engineer, you will conduct comprehensive analyses, develop innovative solutions, and implement maintenance initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, boosting production capacity, improving equipment reliability, and reducing operational costs. Education/Experience Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering or related technical field.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in heavy industrial asset management and maintenance reliability programs.

  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, and/or cGMP preferred.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

EHS:

  • Responsible for complying with EH&S rules and regulations.

  • Participate in Visible Felt Leadership on safety matters.

Project Management:

  • Develop project ideas into well-defined project scopes, implement to complete on time and within budget delivering scope

  • Lead process enhancement initiatives in productivity which feeds operational improvements and reliability.

  • Coordinate efforts with plant personnel to drive and establish best practice manufacturing improvement efforts.

  • Reliability & Maintenance Management:

  • Participate in Contractor Management to include adherence to approved costs and all site safety regulations. 

  • Work with CMMS tools for work order tracking and improvements. 

  • Participate in the maintenance improvement initiatives identified through failure root causes analysis and/or compliance, growth or cost reduction requirements. 

  • Develop, implement and provide mentoring for World Class Asset Management techniques, including implementation of documented work management practices.  

  • Participate in the process of benchmarking successful Maintenance organizations and processes. 

  • Develop and monitor departmental performance key indicators (KPI’s).  Liaison with purchasing to identify and negotiate purchase of needed components, equipment and contract services. 

  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance related problems.  

  • Be aware and support management  of  maintenance spending per month, per quarter and per year 

  • Ensure all department objectives are completed on time and within budget. 


Skills and Attributes Requirements:

  • Proven ability to oversee projects from conception to implementation.

  • Proven ability to successfully conduct a cost/benefit analysis, oversee development of key maintenance initiative justification, present project to superiors and gain approval

  • Strong team leader skills to coordinate efforts of multi-disciplinary teams to achieve a common goal

  • Excellent communication skills and proactive communication style to ensure all affected parties are informed regarding the status of a wide range of maintenance repairs

  • Proven ability to develop and adhere to maintenance downtime schedules

  • Strong ability to anticipate questions and prepare answers pertaining to the business case for each maintenance initiative from all affected parties, including the senior management team

  • Demonstrated ability to identify maintenance constraints (manufacturing process, budget, schedule, etc.) and either eliminate the constraints or manage within

  • Proven capability in defining project scope

  • Demonstrated skill in applying detailed technical analysis 

  • Broad knowledge of maintenance related program tools, such as, reliability engineering (RCM, On Stream Time, MTBF, OEE, WCAM and TPM)

  • Proven ability to assign priorities to achieve multiple objectives and manage multiple projects.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and a positive change agent

  • Strong ability to make decisions by understanding causes, weighing options, and making final decisions based on achieving highest priority objectives

  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts

  • Proven ability to implement lean manufacturing principles into a Engineering/Maintenance department

  • Effective computer skills, including working knowledge AutoCad, Microsoft Office. SAP maintenance experience preferred. 


Compensation Range: Base: $115,000 - $140,000 USD plus bonus

Environment

Sitting up to 30% of work time including meetings. Standing and walking on uneven surfaces and in an industrial plant up to 70% of work time.
