The Position

Operator/Packer-Forklift

Job Summary

Department: Packaging & Shipping

Reports to: Packaging & Shipping Supervisor

Duties & Responsibilities:

Operate Forklift 

Conduct daily inspection of the work area and report conditions as required.

Performs all other duties as required by the supervisor or designate.

Make sure samples are taken to the lab and signed for.

Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Make sure bags have the correct lot number, pallets etc.

Make sure codes are placed into stencil correctly.

Move full pallets into the warehouse.

Keep paper work neatly and allocate shipments.

Bring pallets from the pallet yard into the bagging area.

Other duties as assigned.

Stretch wrap pallets as required by mss instructions

Move semi bulk bags from baggers to warehouse

Restack pallets as needed

Machines & Equipment Involved:

Scales, Forklifts Trucks, Bag Trucks and Sweeper. Baggers, semi-bulk baggers   

Working Conditions: 

The majority of the work is performed in an indoor environment. Employees are exposed to temperature variations and dust.  Overtime is required. Personal health and safety protection is required, including head, eye and foot protection.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have the ability to read and write and perform basic math at the High School level.

High School Diploma or GED 

• Previous forklift driving and equipment operation in a production or warehouse environment is desirable.

• Must be able to lift 50lbs as needed

     Skills Requirement:

• Communication skills including verbal and non-verbal, written and listening skills.

• The ability to assist and work closely with others to coordinate activities and schedules.

• Ability to compare data and make adjustments.

• Ability to operate equipment safely.

     Other Required Activities:

Twisting, kneeling, sitting for periods of time, climbing on and off equipment,

  Walking, signaling, hearing, color differentiation and attention to details.
