Technical Support Engineer, Abrasives
Accountabilities
Constantly adapt products/solutions to current and future needs of customers. Supporting the Sales Managers and S&T team by managing technical activities. Act as an ambassador on the technical side, representing the company externally as an expert, participating in fairs, congresses and university networks.
Responsibilities
Participate in client discussions for technical sales on identified opportunities by the Account Manager
Support the development process of the customer
Identify technical opportunities on existing products to optimize value proposition
Identify unmet technical needs of customers and therefore potential new products/solutions
Act as link between customers, S&T and Operations on NPD
Lead trial management at the customer site and supervise trials at Imerys plant/S&T on new products
Manage qualification process at the customer's site for new products
Respond to customers on significant quality issues and analyze causes and possible solutions
Liaise with operations/ quality managers on solution identification and implementation
Manage technical training of sales/ marketing people in his/ her area of expertise
Act as technical ambassador for his/ her area of expertise in external communication
Identify new market potentials
Profile
University or Master's degree in Engineering, focus on Abrasives, Material Science or comparable
Strong experience on production and applications of Abrasives for bonded and/or coated
Good knowledge of Fused Alumina, Sol gel, SiC and Superabrasives is an advantage
Ability to decode the customer needs and to design adapted solutions
Customer oriented, enable to build up strong relationships internally & externally
Commercial skills is an advantage
Language skills English, Chinese
Additional language skills are welcome
Ability to work in a team
Readiness for traveling (up to 50%)
