The Position

Deputy Manager - Process & Improvement, India Hub

Job Summary

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Uphold Imerys EHS standards in all phases of work.

  • Drive continuous improvements, lead process analysis and benchmarking exercises to optimize efficiency, productivity, quality, energy, safety and ultimately profitability.

  • Debottleneck and troubleshooting, provide assistance to resolve process issues and optimize equipment/ plant performance.

  • Define or review process performance management or standard. Audit process and plant operation.

  • Establish and review the relevant Key Performance Index (KPI), facilitate data accuracy and analysis comparison.

  • Ensure efficient Process Control tools are in place for Plant Automation.

  • Conceptions of new processing ideas. Coordinate the development of new processes or optimization, including trials in lab, pilot or industrial scale, to define and validate processing routes to be implemented. 

  • Establish mass balance, water balance and energy balance. Establish flowsheet, P&ID.

  • Provide technical support in the Energy Roadmap to reduce CO2 emission.

  • Provide processing leadership and guidance to “make things happen”. Provide mentorship to site teams, establish and transfer Process knowledge and know-how.

  • Animating site teams in action plan follow up, facilitating conclusions and decisions.

  • Review and provide technical assistance on Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) requests.

  • Project Management for site turn-around, process debottleneck mission.

  • Support Project Managers in expansion or greenfield project engineering. Serving as process sponsor in project mode validating process design and equipment specification fit-for-use.

  • Interface with internal and external engineering groups/ vendors/ subject experts to ensure technical feasibility.

  • Lead process commissioning of new equipment or new plant.

  • Execute lean vision and strategy by serving as a champion of facility initiatives that deliver continuous improvement, culture

transformation, waste reduction and/or cost savings, machine up-time,etc

  • Track and report key metrics on improvement activities

  • Deploy the lean strategy, monitor results and report progress including for roadmap projects cost savings

  • Maintain suitable affiliations and participate in professional development activities (internal & external to Imerys) that foster

  • continuous learning and also supports the lean position requirements

  • Lead and facilitate Lean initiatives that foster process and product innovation.

  • Serve as a mentor and coach for the development of Continuous Improvement steering team within the site and departments..

  • Support operations with the deployment of various Lean Manufacturing techniques, including but not limited to, 5S, Visual

Management, Total Productive Maintenance, SMED, and Kaizen events.

Drive improvement efforts through Statistical Process Control and problem-solving methodologies such as the Design of Experiments,

  • Identify and implement training, education, coaching and mentoring of plant personnel in Lean Manufacturing Techniques.

  • Assist the business in the development and maintenance of Strategy Deployment tools & Business intelligence tools.

  • 30% of the job profile involves travelling. ( 4 sites across India )

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements:

  • A Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical/Industrial process/Chemical/Chemistry/Ceramic Engineering/Any similar stream.

  • 7 - 10 years of experience in Industrial Processing or Industrial Production is essential. Mining/ Minerals Industry experience is a significant advantage.

  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Experienced in process design for industrial projects would be a plus point.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics:

  • Adaptable to working in a complex global/ matrix organization.

  • Proficient in Google workplace , MS office

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills., Preferred software proficiency in Minitab etc

  • Self-motivated, ability to independently lead and motivate the team.

  • Good numerical skills and an understanding of statistics. ( Six Sigma ,Green Belt etc)

  • Planning and organisation skills

  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of management & cultures.

  • Problem-solving & Leadership skills

  • Growth mindset

  • Open Minded and ability to learn new subjects
