The Position
General Ledger AccountantJob Summary
Job Purpose
The Shared Services Center was established in 2019 with the aim of centralizing the transactional accounting activities of 65 European Imerys entities delivered through three service streams : General Accounting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables. The general accounting department is mainly responsible for the fixed assets accounting, Treasury and banking activity, intercompany cycle, preparation and posting of general ledger transactions and production of monthly reporting. The department is structured based on the key business activity provided by four process sub-teams in order to build expertise and in depth knowledge within our teams and provide a high level of services to our internal clients. As part of our continuing expansion of our services we are currently looking for two new team members to join the general accounting and Intercompany teams.
Responsibilities and Duties
Preparation and posting of manual journal entries ( accruals, provisions, reclasses)
Preparation of level 1 controls for the assigned entities
Performance of month-end closing activities
Support at ad hoc request from local teams
Preparation of BS reconciliation according to the group policy
Preparation and resolution of intercompany reconciliation on a monthly basis
Preparation, posting and review of intercompany transactions
Participation in special projects relating to the improvement and harmonization of processes and existing activities
Supporting in audit requests
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
2-4 years of working experience in a relevant position, ideally involved with monthly reporting and/or intercompany transactions
Experience with ERPs (experience with SAP4 Hana will be a plus)
Fluent in English
Conversant in French, German, Italian or any other European language is a plus
Having worked in a SSC environment would be a key asset
