The Position

MERYS, is the Global Leader in Mineral-based specialty solutions for industry. IMERYS transforms a unique range of minerals to deliver essential functions that are essential to its customers’ products and manufacturing processes. Carbonates North America provides calcium carbonate to a wide range of industries and customers. The Maintenance Supervisor position is located in Sylacauga, Alabama.
This position is responsible for overseeing that all mechanical maintenance work is completed in the safest, highest quality, and most efficient manner possible.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the mechanical maintenance work force and provides on-site expertise, ensuring the maintenance craft workers are properly qualified
Provides expertise to prepare, implement, and revise the Preventative and Predictive Programs.
Ensures that maintenance is planned, scheduled, and performed in the most cost-effective manner.
Reviews work planning and weekly scheduling with the Production Area Supervisors and attends weekly planning meetings.
Ensures all parts and tools are provided to craft workers.
Ensures ongoing equipment availability and targets means and methods to improve uptime.
Champions proactive maintenance, encouraging all production and maintenance personnel to turn in work to be planned and scheduled using SAP.
Approves emergency work, rescheduling planned work when necessary.
Ensures that all data collected regarding the work process is accurate and complete when being entered into SAP.
Performs additional reports and tracking as assigned using Excel or other tools.
Supports maintenance objectives.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of mechanical maintenance processes, including preventative/predictive maintenance procedures such as vibration, oil analysis and thermal analysis, as well as troubleshooting and repair.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, lead, coach, and motivate the workforce.
Capable of developing and ensuring compliance to work schedule based on immediate and future needs with available resources.
Proven skills in assessing the nature of a situation, identifying options, selecting best alternative, and implementing the chosen plan
Internal customer focused and proven strong team member.
Ability to use financial information in decision making and find ways to reduce cost.
Good communication skills including the following: verbal, nonverbal, written, and listening.
Ability to use and learn SAP.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, plus at least 5 years experience in maintenance in a heavy industrial production environment.
Prior mineral processing experience is desired.
SAP experience desired.
High School Diploma or GED
