EHS Manager

Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • Co-ordinate the Environmental, Health & Safety activities in the plant, in order to obtain healthy and safe working conditions and environment-friendly production; complying with all applicable legal and company requirements.

  • Develop & implement procedures to reduce the risk for personnel impacted by the Imerys Talc Business.

  • Support and lead projects to develop the operation.

  • Support the ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standard.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the supervision & coaching of all personnel on site (including contractors & visitors) to carry out activities in a safe way. Develop written procedures to cover high risk activities performed at the site. 

  • Carry out occupational exposure assessment to measure dust exposure levels, chemical exposure levels, noise and vibration exposure levels at the workplace. 

  • Supervise & coach all personnel on site to carry out activities in an environmentally compliant way. Target continuous improvement of environmental performance. 

  • Management & leadership of Safety on the site. 

  • Update documents and structure all the procedures related to safety for the site. This also includes Risk Assessments, Safety Protocols, CE marking and risks identified by internal and external audits.

  • Manage and participate in projects to improve safety and performance on site.

  • Legal internal prevention advisor complying to Belgian legislation.

  • Imerys Talc Belgium Management Team, active participation in ongoing business development. Leadership for all EHS initiatives.

  • Develop and use project management skills to support and then fully manage projects. 

  • You coordinate EHS site activities in collaboration with EHS activities of the group.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education : 

Technical qualification is required

Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science is very beneficial

 

Licenses/certifications :

Preventieadviseur niveau 2

 

Training :

To be provided, practical training working with the Gent, Central Europe Hub team and suitable courses to develop project management skills.

 

Experience :

At least 5 years relevant professional experience, working with EHS in an industrial environment.

Essential :

  • Fluent in Dutch & English

  • Strong communication & management skills, both written & face to face 

  • Technical competence
