Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

 

Missions:

 

Safety: Always keep Safety as the #1 priority for himself and his teams by leading by example and enforcing the Company Safety Protocols

 
  • Implement clear Chemicals/Packaging Purchasing processes & strategies at regional level in liaison with the Regional Category Manager, 

  • Deliver the expected Cash and Savings Targets

  • In charge of the reporting (projects KPI’s, forecast, savings…) related to the category

  • Contribute to provide market review information and data for the Senior Management on time (e.g. RFQ results, packaging workshops implementation)

  • Participate to Operations review meetings

  • Collect needs from the different sites via the local buyers sites’ network /operations teams from all entities, challenge them and introduce alternatives into the current Sourcing Portfolio

  • Implement Performance reviews with the strategic suppliers of the categories with the team. Assess the suppliers through KPI (Financial, Supply, Quality, Innovation,…).

  • Conduct commodity specific competitors and industry analysis to identify cost, material selection, manufacturing techniques and materials sourcing to improve the company’s competitive position.

  • Follow indexes and Market trends and communicate on regular basis to anticipate opportunities and risks

  • Implement best practices: collaborate with colleagues from all regions to leverage bargaining power,  to share knowledge and learning to fuel continuous improvement.

  • Take part in the global supplier panel update by reviewing the supply base and manage regular market surveys to identify new producers or new distributors.

  • Develop low cost country supplier in collaboration with other purchasing regions organizations

  • Animate the Chemicals & /Packaging community (Purchasing, Operations, S&T, Sales, I3) at regional level, with ongoing project reviews and communication on latest releases (Tools, contracts, claims, etc…)

  • Develop the expertise of the market in respective areas (benchmark with other companies, intel from suppliers, congress,…) 

  • Regularly scan the market to identify new producers / distributors or regulation changes that may impact the supply base or prices.

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

 

Chemicals and Packaging are key strategic commodities for IMERYS operations with more than 66M€ spend splitted across the multiple operating assets in Europe. The Regional Category  Manager will report to the EMEA Global Category Director. He/She will work closely with the plants and the local Purchasing teams in order to ensure supply continuity and competitive biddings from suppliers. The Purchasing team within the company is a strong contributor to the profitability of the business. 

 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The key Tasks & Responsibilities for the Global Category Manager position are the following :

  • Manage supplier panel

  • Lead RFQs and negotiate contracts

  • Ensure proper implementation of contracts

  • Respond to stakeholders needs and expectations

  • Seek innovation

  • Support Budget process and market trends assumptions

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements

  • Business or Engineering Degree - Masters level

  • 2/3+ years experience in International Purchasing

  • Multi-cultural awareness

  • Team work

  • Strong presentation and communication skills inFrench /English

  • Proven Manager

  • Ability to influence and get buy-in in a "dotted-line" situation

  • Understands Business needs

  • Occasionally travel
