About the role

Reporting to the S&T Director/Team Leader, based in our Imerys’ Technology Centre (ITC) Par Moor, UK you’ll be managing a technical team; inspiring your team to bring new ideas for new products and new uses for mineral solutions for our paint and coating projects.

Working within Innovation, you’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the lab; training and developing your team as necessary on paints and coatings technology. You’ll also be liaising with other scientists in the group and co-ordinating work with the team in Toulouse, France.

In addition, you’ll

provide reformulation advice for Imerys’ customers
liaise with legal teams to organise confidentiality agreements with customers and partners
identify patent opportunities and protect Imerys’ intellectual property
interface raw material suppliers to keep up to date with industry developments
participate in customer visits, conferences and seminars and pilot trials
undertake travel to our technical centres in Europe

About you

Working as a senior scientist in this role you’ll be educated to 1st degree level in chemistry or materials science or a related subject with a further 5-10 years in post-graduate/doctorate research in coatings. Knowledge of extenders used in industry, their effects on the end product and associated processes would also be useful.

In addition, you’ll have the flexibility to travel in the UK and to Europe and on occasion work extended hours.
