Forming networks
To function correctly, Imerys relies in particular on numerous exchanges between employees, which is why we encourage staff to meet each other and why we create opportunities for sharing best practices.
Core business seminars
Regular meetings are held for internal experts from the same function, for instance between R&D engineers, Health, Safety & Environment managers, Human Resources managers or Purchasing managers. These meetings allow them to step outside of the boundaries of their daily work and address challenges facing their colleagues from other divisions or other continents.
Management conventions
In June 2011, a few months after he took up his position, Gilles Michel, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Imerys, met with 200 managers in Lisbon to share with them the Group's road map for the coming years. Each year the Executive Committee also invites Vice Presidents of divisions to days devoted to discussing implementation of the Group's strategy. Management seminars are also organized by operational Vice Presidents at business group and divisional level.
Integration seminars
The Group systematically organizes integration seminars following major external growth operations. For example, last Fall managers from the Luzenac Group, a company acquired in August 2011, met managers from the Performance & Filtration Minerals business group during two days of discussions.
Communities of interest
At the end of 2011, Imerys launched a study of the creation of a social networking tool to encourage the development of its professional communities. Four pilot communities were identified and will be the subject of a life-size test prior to possible roll-out on a larger scale at the end of the year 2012.
