Rare and diverse resources

A unique range of minerals, 117 mining sites, more than 20 years of reserves on average: Imerys is the only designer of specialty minerals for industry to have such large and diverse resources, well distributed around the world. These raw materials may be rare, even unique, giving the Group a solid competitive advantage.

At least 20 years of resources

In order to guarantee a long-term supply for its customers and secure its future growth, Imerys aims to constantly have at least 20 years of reserves for all its minerals. To achieve this, the Group is constantly prospecting, optimizing its portfolio of deposits and acquiring new resources.

Mining campaigns continued to meet production needs in 2011. The talc mines included in the acquisition of the Luzenac Group expanded Imerys’s mineral assets. Each year, the Group "proves" additional reserves and resources as well as identifying new tonnage at least equivalent to its consumption.
